Orlando shootings

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/us-gun-violence-history-deadly-shootings-151809956.html

I was meant to post this last week but didn't get round to it. It makes me physically sick that there are people cruel enough in this world to go around and do this sort of thing! I saw a video on Facebook last week- not sure how old it is, but it said if you take Great Britain, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Australia and a couple other European countries, you get a population roughly the same size as the US. In all those other countries there were 178 gun deaths in the previous year to this news report, the States had 32,000 gun deaths in the same year.

I just don't get how people can be so cruel and cause this much misery to others. People who conduct mass shootings do not this think how it'll effect others. We need to stop all the violence and hatred in the world and just join together as one. If a guys falls in love with a guy then let them be happy, the same applies for a girl who falls in love with a girl. If someone has fallen in love and they are happy, leave them be! That's all that matters, their happiness! The same goes for race, religion, ethnicity, I don't understand how people can be so judgemental and hate a certain group of individuals!

I'm at a loss for words. This hits home really hard as I have a close family member who came out as gay and all I could think about is what if that happened over here and he was a victim of someone's awful hatred! My heart goes out to all the families and friends affected by this awful loss. My thoughts are with everyone who has been affected.

Please keep the love and peace!

Lush skincare event

On
Thursday 9 June 2016
Back in May I was invited to another blogger event at Lush in Tunbridge Wells. This time it was based around skincare and we went into detail of what each product does and how it works. Whenever I go into a lush store I always go to the bath bombs, forgetting they offer skincare and makeup. With that being said I actually own a lipstick they do, I just never remember about the skincare and makeup.

When I first arrived, I was the only person there. I was told to take a seat upstairs and that others should be joining me. Once everyone had arrived- 4 of us in total, we started to talk about what skincare products we own. I prefer there being 4 of us as we could go into more detail of the products and have a closer experience. The last Lush event was great, don't get me wrong I had an amazing time, but there were about 30 people and it was difficult to hear what was being said about each product and know what to look at.

We started of with looking at different cleansers. They showed us 2 different cleansers they have, one which is more of a lotion and the other which is more solid. The lotion type cleanser is called 9-5 and is completely vegan! The other we were shown was ultrabland. We were given some of this in our goodie bags and I love this stuff! I use it before I jump in the shower to remove my makeup and it comes off so easily.

We were then showed how to make a face mask- catastrophe cosmetic, which smelt amazing! It has blueberries in which contain vitamins and minerals which are great for the skin. It also contains chamomile which helps to soothe the skin.

After we were shown how to make the face mask, we moved onto moisturisers. We were shown the different moisturisers they offer and were told a bit about the ingredients in each. We were told that the most expensive moisturiser- gorgeous, was designed for Princess Diana as she had really problematic skin. She never got to try this moisturiser out due to the unfortunate accident, but everyone at Lush thinks she would have loved it! We were then shown their solid serum- Full of Grace. This is a solid serum which you rub in between your hands to melt slightly. When using this product, it's the ideal time to give yourself a facial massage. I use this at night and my skin is so soft when I wake up and feels super hydrated!

After being shown the skincare, we were shown the makeup they offer. The range isn't big but they have a lot of products in the range they have. We were shown their colour supplements which are lighter than a foundation but still provide the coverage you want. They're offered in 4 shades and are buildable. They also have a couple of colour supplements which are used for highlighting. Next time I visit Lush, I'm going to be getting one.

Once we had been shown everything, we were taken to a little table and shown some products we were able to choose. There were samples of moisturisers, I chose vanishing cream and Magical Moringa. I chose these as they're best suited to my skin type. I was told that Magical Moringa could be used as a face primer. I've tried it a few times and have noticed my skin isn't as oily at the end of the day. There were also face masks, toning waters and makeup. I picked up the Love Lettuce face mask, Tea Tree toning water as well as confident lipstick and dynamic eye liner. The makeup products can be used not just for the area stated. I love how dynamic is a gorgeous golden rosy colour so I would use this as a highlight.

Once we had been shown everything, the evening concluded with being shown some new products. We were shown a new soap which was being released the following day and the Father's Day gifts they had brought out. I was so tempted to buy myself a Father's Day gift purely for the scarf!

I had another great evening at the event and want to thank the Tunbridge Wells staff for making it an enjoyable experience and Seb for allowing her face to be demonstrated on! I also want to say thank you to Lush Oxford Street for allowing us to have aLush Oxford Street exclusive bath bomb! It smelt amazing!

Mini NYX haul

On
Thursday 2 June 2016
Before the Lush skincare event Thursday evening, I popped into Boots 1 because Lauren had my jacket and I needed to get it off her and 2 because I was there with loads of time to kill so I was killing time. Lauren works upstairs in Boots, so after telling her where I would be, I went downstairs and had a look at the makeup. As I had finished coming down the stairs and turned in the direction of the makeup, there it was, NYX cosmetics! My heart almost stopped beating when I saw it as it meant no longer ordering off Boots.com and I got to test the item out before so I could see if I liked the colours. There was a lot to choose from and it was very overwhelming but I am planning on going back and picking up more items. If you have any suggestions, comment down below or tweet me.

I had my eye on the wonder stick for ages, so when I saw it on the stand I had to pick it up! I swatched the colour on the back of my hand and blended it with my finger, and it looked so natural- yes I'm aware the back of my hand is different from my face, but I wanted to try the colour out. I fell in love with the colour and texture of this contour stick, and it glides on like a dream! I use my beauty blender to blend this out and then go over if I need more as I found a brush made it look cakey. I picked up the lightest shade and cost £10.

As I am a very oily person, I wanted to try their blotting paper. I've used only one kind of blotting paper before- superdrug's own brand, so wanted to try another brand out. Now I love the superdrug brand one because it has powder on the paper so once you've blotted, you don't have to go in with powder whereas you do with the NYX blotting paper. I've used this paper twice now and have already used 5 sheets- you get 50 sheets per pack, so I don't think that's too bad. I do however feel weird after seeing how much oil is on my skin, only because the paper goes very see-through after using it. This product cost £3 for the original blotting paper which I picked up. They do have other kinds, one with tee tree in and another which helps to minimise pores which are a little more but only something like £1.50 more.

I went around the other side of the stand- one side has face makeup on and the other side has eye and lip products, I saw the wonder pencil. This is a pencil which can be used as an eye brightener, concealer or reverse lipliner. For me this product is perfect! I always make mistakes when applying lipstick so to have a product I can use to go over any mistakes which acts as a concealer and also lines the lips at the same time is perfect. I have also used this on my lower waterline to see how it works as an eye brightener and it gives a subtle line without being too harsh, as I discovered the Rimmel nude pencil liner caused. this product comes in 3 shades- may be more so don't hold it against me if I'm wrong and costs £4.

I own the NYX microbrow as I heard it was a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz, but I wanted to see what other eyebrow products they had. Next time I will be picking up more products- especially now as my brows FINALLY have a shape to them and are growing! I picked up the auto eyebrow pencil in taupe- yes it's a lot lighter than my hair colour and my brows #darkbrowprobs, but as I'm slowly transitioning to going blonde, I wanted to start trying out lighter brow colours so I can get used to it.. if that even makes any sense. So far I like this product, I'm just not 100% sold on the colour so maybe I will wait until my hair is done first. This pencil was offered in a variety of shades and cost £5.

Now I love the NYX soft matte lip creams so I just had to pick up another! They smell amazing, glide on perfectly and don't dry my lips out like most other matte lipsticks do. I own a variety of shades already so wanted to try a colour which was slightly on the nude side, again I will be picking up more of these next time I go in there as this colour isn't as nude as I thought. I picked up the colour Cannes and it is just a perfect light pink colour. The soft matte lip creams cost £5.50 which I think is totally worth it as they are just amazing!

If you want me to try out any other products from NYX, let me know which ones so I can pick them up. I am also thinking of doing an NYX giveaway of my favourite products once I've tested them out!
